I had a mixed experience during my stay at Bowburn Hall Hotel. While the staff were incredibly friendly and the food was generally quite good, my room left a lot to be desired in terms of comfort and amenities. I appreciated the hotel's beautiful decor and convenient location near Durham, but I struggled with the heat and cleanliness in my accommodation.

Rooms
5.0
My room was quite hot and cramped, which made it uncomfortable to sleep. There were also hairs in the shower and a shower with very low water pressure. It lacked a bath and the door knob was falling off. Despite these issues, the decor was nice and the bed was comfortable.
Service
9.0
The staff were really good, always willing to go the extra mile. They offered me complimentary drinks and were attentive during my meals. I truly appreciated how friendly and accommodating they were throughout my stay.
Location
7.0
The hotel is well-placed just a short drive from Durham City Centre, making it easy to explore the area. However, it felt slightly out of place amongst newer developments.
Dining
8.0
The food was tasty and there were a variety of options available. The garlic mushrooms and lamb koftas were personal favorites. However, I did have some issues with the service during dinner, as no one checked on us after our meals.
Facilities
6.0
While the facilities looked stylish and modern, some areas needed improvement, particularly regarding room maintenance and cleanliness. My room could have been better equipped, as I did not find it to be a great value.

6.2/10

I had a lovely stay at Bowburn Hall Hotel! The staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating, which really made my experience special. The food was great, especially the generous portions at dinner. The only downside was the slight noise from the wedding happening during my visit, but everything else was fantastic.

Rooms
8.0
The Executive Double Room was spacious and overlooked the gardens. It was clean and comfortable, with a great bed. However, the bathroom's layout was a bit awkward, making it less than ideal.
Service
10.0
The service was really good! Every staff member I encountered was super friendly and went out of their way to help, making my stay even more enjoyable.
Location
7.0
The hotel is conveniently located just off the A1, making it easy to get around Durham and explore the local attractions. While it felt a bit more suburban than I expected, it was still quite nice.
Dining
9.0
The dining experience was a highlight! Both dinners I had were delicious, and the breakfast was lovely too, although I thought the price was a tad high for breakfast.
Facilities
8.0
The hotel has a cozy lounge area for evening drinks and a lovely garden for some fresh air. However, I did notice the heating was quite aggressive at times and could use a bit of tweaking.

5.6/10

I had a mixed experience at Bowburn Hall Hotel. The beautiful gardens and really good food were definite highlights, but I faced several concerns with room cleanliness and management issues that detracted from my overall experience. While the staff, especially Lucy, were friendly and accommodating, the management style of one individual left much to be desired.

Rooms
7.0
The executive suite I stayed in was worth the price, but some rooms were small and in need of cleaning. I encountered issues like a broken toilet seat and maintenance problems during my stay.
Service
6.0
Most of the staff were friendly and helpful, with Lucy providing excellent service. However, my experience with one manager was disappointing; he lacked basic customer service skills and was dismissive of reasonable guest concerns.
Location
7.0
The hotel is nicely situated near Durham, making it easy to explore local attractions. However, the surrounding area didn't match the picturesque appearance shown in photos.
Dining
7.0
The food served was quite enjoyable, especially the home-cooked meals, though I found breakfast to be overpriced for what it offered. The dining experience was a bit overshadowed by the service issues I encountered.
Facilities
6.0
While the hotel had a cozy bar and lovely gardens, I ran into several maintenance issues. The lack of a lift made navigating the building difficult, especially with crutches, which was not ideal during my stay.

I had a pleasant stay at Bowburn Hall Hotel, although I faced some room issues. The atmosphere and amenities were impressive, and the staff were exceptionally friendly. While my room had some drawbacks, the beautiful setting and quality of food made up for it.

Rooms
6.0
My room was on the smaller side, with a bit of wear and tear. Though it was clean, I had issues with water pressure and comfort, as I found my bed to be two singles pushed together. I noted that some of the other rooms were far more spacious and appealing.
Service
9.0
The staff were really friendly and helpful throughout my stay. They were attentive and went out of their way to assist with any queries I had, which made my experience feel warm and welcoming.
Location
7.0
Located just outside of Durham, the hotel is in a quieter area. It did feel a bit unexpected being surrounded by newer developments, but it was still convenient for exploring the region.
Dining
9.0
The food served during my stay was excellent. Although I didn't have breakfast, I enjoyed a lovely dinner with lots of tempting menu options. I could see why locals flock to the onsite restaurant.
Facilities
8.0
The hotel had beautiful gardens and a great bar area, perfect for relaxing. However, given some issues with room amenities and WiFi, there’s room for improvement in that department.

6.6/10

I had a lovely stay at Bowburn Hall Hotel with my friends. The rooms were exceptionally clean, and I sank into really comfy beds that made for a restful night. While the staff were friendly and super helpful, I did notice that the self-service breakfast meant I had to keep an eye out for fresh trays of food, which was a little chaotic. Overall, I can't really fault our experience.

Rooms
8.0
My room was clean and comfortable, though the bathroom was a bit restricted in size. The beds were cozy, but I did encounter some heating issues upon arrival.
Service
10.0
The staff were outstandingly friendly and attentive. I appreciated how they handled our late-night requests in the guest lounge, making us feel at home.
Location
8.0
The hotel is conveniently located near Durham city, making it easy to explore local attractions. However, I did notice some noise from nearby delivery vehicles at times.
Dining
8.0
I really enjoyed the food; it was delicious and portions were large. The breakfast had a lot of choices, but the switch to self-service made it a bit tricky to get what I wanted quickly.
Facilities
7.0
The outdoor spaces were pleasant and cozy, making it lovely for drinks outside. However, I did find the bathroom needed some updating.
